For those new to cold drip brewing or looking for a reliable starting point, a coffee-to-water ratio of approximately 12 g of coffee per 120 mL (4 oz) of brewed coffee is recommended. Grind size can be adjusted based on preference, with a standard drip grind serving as a good baseline and slightly finer adjustments depending on the coffee used.
Since water quality plays a major role in flavor, fresh ice made with filtered water is strongly recommended. Begin the brew with cold filtered water and monitor the drip speed, aiming for roughly one drip every 1.5 seconds (about 40 drips per minute). As the water level decreases, a minor adjustment to the drip rate may be needed to maintain consistency.
Once brewing is complete, the finished coffee can be chilled further by refrigeration or served immediately over ice. Dilution can be adjusted to taste, whether pouring the concentrate over a full glass of ice or adding cold water as desired.
